Backbone of the defence of the great West Perth teams of the 1930s which won three premierships under Jack Cashman (1932) and Johnny Leonard (1934-35).  Full back and winner of the club’s fairest and best in 1932 in a team which broke a 27 year drought and the centre half-back in Leonard’s back to back heroes.  His coaching career didn’t reach grat heights and his two year sting as playing coach at West Perth produced just four wins in 40 games.  But in 1941, he was back a full back as West Perth carved out a 21 point grand final win.
