Jim Craig, Harold Boyd and Jim Gosnell each had a Sandover Medal and the latter two were also runners-up.  Together, they formed one of the most formidable half-back lines in the game, but West Perth still couldn’t win a premiership throughout the 1920’s.  An ambitious club, West Perth was back on the winning path in 1931 after Craig had threatened to retire.  Ted Tyson kicked 81 goals in his second season, brothers Norm and Jack McDiamid played together for the first time and Max Tetley started his auspicious career.  Still, the Cardinals would have to wait one more year for their first flag since 1905 and by then, their famed centre half-back had retired.
